County School Transfers for African-American City Students
August 20,2010 was the deadline for submitting applications for the 2010-2011 school year. No more applications will be accepted for 2010-2011. African-American students who are currently enrolled in the St. Louis Public Schools will automatically receive an application for 2011-2012 in January, 2011. If you live in the city but do not attend St. Louis Public Schools, you may request a transfer application beginning December 15, 2010 by calling 314.721.8422 and press 2, then 4, for the automated attendant. The recording will prompt you to leave your name and mailing address. These applications will be mailed out in January. Remember, eligible students are accepted on a first-come, first-serve basis. Apply promptly for next year. Explore the world of opportunities available in county schools through the voluntary student transfer program! Next fall your child could join thousands of other students living in the city who have chosen to take advantage of the diversity, opportunities and academic challenges that schools in St. Louis County offer. Where your child goes to school does make a difference. Quality of education translates to quality of life. Make the quality choice for your child by applying to attend school in St. Louis County through the voluntary St. Louis Student Transfer Program. Eligible African-American city families can choose from a variety of educational settings in the county which are available to students living in their city neighborhood. There is no tuition fee, and transportation is provided at no cost to parents as long as the family continues to live in the attendance area that is paired with the selected suburban school or district (see Attendance Area Map below). Because each county district varies in size and each has its own philosophy, you have a unique opportunity to match your child's learning needs to the school district of your choice.
